Manila Megastack 20: Hajduk Remigiusz Tops Main Event A; Florencio Campomanes Lands Second HR Win

After a handful of nonstop pokr action, the Manila Megastack 20 reached its highlight tournament with the Main Event under the spotlight on December 4, 2024. Scheduled to run for five days, the ₱20 Million guarantee attracted 57 runners to Day 1A with 9 players advancing to ITM.

At the side events, Florencio Campomanes captured a second victory and the Megastack Turbo completed its first two entry days with one flight remaining. Here are the higlights.

After a grueling 11 hours and 15 levels of play Day 1A reached the finish line with 9 players qualifying to the next round. Remigiusz Hajduk barely came out on top, bagging 281,000 with the aid of a massive hand just before the end with pocket Aces versus big slick to knock out Hwang Minsoo. Gun Jegal was very active from the start with some swings here and there to bag just one small chip behind with 280,000. In third was a very solid Oliver Duran with 263,000.

Up next is Day 1B which starts tomorrow at 13:00. For a buy in of ₱45,000, players begin with a 30,000 stack. Registration closes at the start of Level 11 at 8:10pm.

Florencio Campomanes Clinches Another High Roller Trophy

After 19 levels of play in the P100,000 buy-in High Roller, Florencio Campomanes came out on top of the 16 player field to earn the biggest cut of the ₱1,3896,800 prize pool. Campomanes battled through a marathon heads up against Andrei Vavilonskii that started even in chips The heads up stayed competitive for almost two hours until a preflop all-in was dominated by Campomanes to knock out Vavilonskii in 2nd place. Campomanes earned ₱601,000 for his achievement.

With a starting field of 50 and 20 levels of play, Day 1A’s Manuel Geronimo served the bubble to finish the day 2nd in chips, only eclipsed by Hwang Yoon Tae who bagged the flight chip lead of 326,000. Players have two more chances to advance before Day 2 kicks in.

At Flight B, it took 20 levels to get down from 82 who started the day to the last 13 players that bagged chips for Day 2 on Friday. After an early exit in the Main Event, Alang Fu Zhenbo jumped into the Turbo and ended up at the top by quite some margin, accumulating 406,000 throughout the evening. Koki Takeishi – another Main Event contender – did the same and ended up with 333,000 for a respectable second rank. Third rank went to Chirag Shah with 287,000.

Anybody still looking to qualify for Day 2 of the P12,000 buy-in P2M GTD event has another chance on Thursday, December 4, at 19:00.
