Chenxiang Miao Crushes WPT Korea Main Event

After several days of grueling battle, the WPT Korea Main Event games culminated with China’s Chenxiang Miao emerging victorious over the 667-entry field. Miao delivered a landslide victory across the Final Day festivities and banked the lion’s share of the KRW 1,680,000,000 (~USD 1,206,430) prize pool, the WPT Trophy, and the highly coveted WPT Main Event Ring, for his dominating display. A defining moment in his poker career, Miao’s impressive feat earned him a record best score of KRW 300,000,000 (~USD 215,400) to commemorate his third WPT win.

One of the most experienced players across the final six, Miao entered the closing rounds amongst the top ranks, and delivered the day’s first bust to Takeo Kimura, giving a preview of what lay ahead. Miao proceeded with caution, and treaded carefully against day chip leader Dong Li, up until an ill-timed four bet jam cost the latter a chunk of his stack, as well as the lead.

Miao shipped the reins and continued to be in control, while Li was unable to turn his momentum upside, rolling 90% of his chips in Miao’s favor. Li attempted to comeback from the damage, eliminating Baojie Lin and Yong Li in 4th and 5th place respectively, yet couldn’t get past Miao’s hot run. Miao eventually finished Li off in third place, having cracked his AA with a rivered straight 46 on board 1057Q8. With nearly all the chips weighing on Miao’s end, heads up play lasted quickly with a pocket pair battle seeing Miao deliver the final bust to Dingding Guan for the title.
