– Niklas Astedt’s Career –

→ Beginnings ←

There isn’t any information available about Astedt’s life before poker. However, since he was born in 1990, and started delivering online tournament cashes in 2008, there isn’t even much room for him to have started a career in a different field.

Thus, his story is almost certainly very similar to another online poker legend’s from Sweden, Viktor “Isildur1” Blom. Astedt also started playing small buy-in tournaments and cash games online as soon as he reached the legal gambling age, 18. If we take a look at his online MTT scoresheet, you can see the gradual increase in stakes in the early years.

→ Live Tournaments ←

Astedt has cashed for $1.268 million in live tournaments during his career, according to his Hendon page. He collected that sum by cashing in 40 different live events over the course of 12 years.

His first recorded cash is from July 2009. By that time, he was making a living as a professional online poker player. He finished 17th for €3,990 in the €1,150 Main Event at the European Masters of Poker in Barcelona. A year later, in September 2010, he took down the €550 event for €15,900 at the same series.

The first time he got a score for over $100K was in December 2013. He managed to beat the field in the €2,150 NLHE 8-Handed Turbo event at EPT Prague and won €83,500, which equaled $114,424 at the time.

Exactly a year later, in December 2014, Astedt claimed another European Poker Tour title for himself. Also in Prague, he finished first in the €5,200 NLHE Turbo 6-Handed event for €84,030. The Czech capital city has been good to this Swedish poker pro. He took down another major event here in December 2017. This time, it was the €10,300 Pot Limit Omaha High Roller at the PokerStars Championship where he won €81,600.

In August 2015, Astedt made it to the final table at the €10,300 NLHE High Roller 8-Max event at EPT Barcelona. That tournament field featured such elite poker talents as Fedor Holz, Adrian Mateos, Nick Petrangelo, or the eventual winner Mustafa Kanit. In that world class field, Astedt was able to take 4th place for €336,700. That is the biggest single live tournament cash of his career to date.

→ World Series of Poker ←

Astedt is yet to win his first WSOP gold bracelet.

He cashed in 21 World Series events for a combined $397,877 in total.

Two of his 21 WSOP cashes are from the Main Event. In 2016, he finished in 182nd place for $42,285 in a field of 6,737 players. In 2019, he got 899th place for $17,135 in an even bigger field of 8,569 players.

His biggest live WSOP cash is $70,367, which he got for coming in 7th place in the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em – Pot Limit Omaha 8-Handed mixed game event in 2021.

→ Live Cash Games ←

Astedt hasn’t appeared on any TV shows or online live streams where he played live cash in front of cameras.

→ Online Poker ←

Niklas Astedt was the biggest online tournament winner in poker history between January 2020 and April 2021. As of the time of writing this, his career winnings stand at $23.080 million. He plays under his famous screen name “Lena900” on PokerStars, “PayandPlay” on partypoker, and “Drulitooo” on Bwin.

He took the record from the Hungarian Peter “Belabacsi” Traply in January 2020. Astedt had “only” $17.9 million in winnings back then.

Previously, there has been some controversy regarding PocketFives’ list of the biggest online tournament winners. For years, Chris “moorman1” Moorman occupied the No.1 spot. However, in June 2019, Traply jumped on top out of nowhere after making his results public – prior to that, he wasn’t even on the list of his volition.

To make matters even more complex, another Hungarian poker crusher, Andras “probirs” Nemeth made his results public too in October 2019 – and he too jumped on top of the list immediately. In a few days, however, Probirs decided to hide his results again.

Lena900 has let P5 track his results publicly for years. In January 2020, when he reached the top of the list, he did so by gradually outearning Belabacsi for months. The online poker community finally saw a “traditional” takeover on the online MTT money list again.

His reign on top of the P5 all time money leaderboard lasted a little over a year. In April 2021, he was overtaken by Joao “Naza114” Vieira from Portugal. The former basketball pro turned online poker crusher cashed for $23.256 million during his career, a little over $1 million more than Astedt.

As for Astedt’s results, the oldest cash on his PocketFives profile is from November 2008. He took 30th place in a $5.50 NLHE tourney on Stars for $54.

The first time he got an online score for over $10K was about 2 and a half years after his career start, in April 2011. He came in 5th in a $150 event on Full Tilt for $10,836. The same day he also took 4th place in the $100 opening event at the FT Online Poker Series and pocketed an additional $86,217. That day must have been life-changing for the young Swede.

In May 2016, Lena900 delivered another massive online score for himself. He topped a 198-player field in the $10,300 POWERFEST Super High Roller event, playing on Bwin Poker. He pocketed no less than a staggering $430,047.

On top of all that, he has won 3 WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker) titles so far. The first one was the $530 PLO event for $58,228 in 2018. In 2020, he won his next two WCOOP championships within two days: first, the $5,200 NLHE Progressive KO High Roller for $101,250; then the $2,100 NLHE event for $80,642.

Astedt has also played some high stakes online cash games in his career, mostly Pot Limit Omaha. The online high stakes cash game database has a little over 13,000 hands tracked on his Lena900 PS account. In that sample, he’s down $95,000 playing $25/$50 and $50/$100 PLO.

At the 2021 GG Spring Festival on Natural8-GGNetwork, Astedt managed to win 4 (!) different events. The biggest one of the four was Event H-41: $25,500 Sunday Five Million, for which he got $1.096 million. That is also his biggest single online tournament score to date.

In the meantime, also in April 2021, he took down a SCOOP event on PokerStars. He finished first in the $1,050 NLHE 8-Max event for $85,430. That was his 5th SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker) title. He also started 2022 with a bang. In January of that year, he won the WSOP Winter Circuit Online $1,050 Sunday HR Main Event, back on GGPoker, for a massive $108,655.

→ Scandals ←

The crossbook bet with C.Darwin2 against Roman “Romeopro” Romanovsky

This could hardly be considered a real “scandal”.

In April 2019, Simon “C.Darwin2” Mattson, another Swedish online MTT crusher, teamed up with Astedt and booked a crossbook bet against the Ukrainian Roman “Romeopro” Romanovsky.

A crossbook is a type of prop bet where poker pros compete to see who wins more money in a tournament, or in a set of tournaments. The loser has to pay the difference in cashes to the winner.

Romanovsky was brave enough to take on two of the best MTT players in the world in a series of online tournaments. While he was ahead for most of the 15-day challenge, the Swedish duo pulled ahead at the last minute. Thus it was Romanovsky who had to pony up a hefty sum for losing this ambitious crossbook bet.
