Busy Day 4 at the TMT Championship 2024 with more champions crowned!

The Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) made great strides for the inaugural Taiwan Millions Tournament Championship festival at the Asia Poker Arena in Taipei, bringing together a series of events with bigger guarantees and prize pools for a chance to win bigger prizes. Running from October 25 to November 4, 2024, he series promises a variety of majors and fun side events that are fit for anyone’s bankroll, whether it’s the affordable or the high-roller kind.

TMT Championship Day 4 Results

By the close of Day 4, three more TMT Championship trophies found new homes. Anton Lu, after a strong showing in the earlier high roller, pushed through to claim victory at the Single Day High Roller in this second edition. Over at the Bubble Rush, Kazuyuki Tanemura held steady to secure the win, while PLO specialist Ming Chang Hsiao captured the 6-Max PLO title.

Chia Huang at the High Roller, Asia’s top female player Shiina Okamoto at the Single Day High Roller, and Alexander Charron at the Freezeout. Also wrapping up were the first two flight of the Mini Main 3M guaranteed. Here are the highlights.

The Mini Main was the flavor of the day with a combined total of 293 added to the entry numbers. The 191 entries of Flight C slugged it out with only the top 29 survivors making the ITM cut for tomorrow’s Day 2 final. Yu Ting Chen bagged the most impressive stack with 1,367,000 in chips. This earned him the overall chip lead of all the Day 2 qualifiers.

Over at Flight D, 102 players filled up the last flight and fought it through in the hopes of being among the lucky 16 survivors to continue their run. When the dust settled, Hui Chun Hsu held the top spot with a chip stack of 692,000, Chen Tzu Chun bagged the second biggest stack with 569,000 while the third rank went to Jangmi Shin with 496,000.

All Set For Mini Main Day 2

The stage is set for the Mini Main (NT$ 3M GTD) Day 2 with 87 players returning out of the 566 total entries. This swell turnout boosed the prize pool to a whopping NT$ 5,929,500 (~US$ 185,000), almost doubling the guarantee. With each one already guaranteed a minimum payout of NT$ 18,000 (~US $560) . While that may bring a smile to all Day 2 qualifiers, the claws will be out to fight their way up the payout ladder where the top prize of NT$ 1,022,000 (~US$ 31,830) awaits the champion who outlasts them all.

On the third edition of the Single Day High Roller, there were 34 registrants who punched in the NT$ 40,000 (~US$ 1,250) for a chance to be among the top 6 to win a share of the NT$ 1,220,300 (~US$ 38,000) prize pool. 

Australian poker pro Anton Lu cracked the pocket kings of Ko Chia Hsiang by turning a straight and was awarded the champion’s purse of NT$ 475,900 (~US$ 14,800) accompanied by a TMT Championship trophy. Lu has been on a rush this year securing a long list of five figure-scores and largest career payday of six-figures early this month. A known online player, Lu crossed over a million in live earnings just two years into entering the live tournament scene. As for runner-up Hsiang, he is inching closer to victory with 2nd and 3rd finishes at the other two SD HR events.

Pot Limit Omaha is not for everyone. The most popular poker game of choice is still No Limit Hold’em. However, true poker players are versatile in most variants whether it be Omaha, Hold’em, Stud or Draw. If it’s a card game, most poker pros will certainly take part.

The 6-Max PLO event brought in 11 entries who made the  buy-in for NT$ 8,000 (~US$ 250) to build a prize pool of NT$ 72,600 (~US$ 2,200). Only the top two players would make it in the money.

The top two are none other than the 6-Max PLO champion Ming Chang Hsiao and runner-up Wang Xiaoshan. Hsiao claimed the winner’s pot of NT$ 47,200 (~US$ 1,400).while Wang took home a runner-up payout of NT$ 25,400 (~US$ 800). Champion Hsiao is an avid PLO player. He recently reached three PLO final tables at the APT Taipei Classic.

25 hopefuls made the NT$ 5,000 (~US$ 155) buy-in of the Bubble Rush (Event #8) with the top 4 players getting the privilege of a payout from the NT$ 103,100 (~US$ 3,200) prize pool. Japanese poker pro Kazuyuki Tanemura bested Tsugunari Toma in the final heads-up battle to win the TMT Championship trophy and a purse of NT$ 46,500 (~US$ 1,450). This is the first recorded championship of Tanemura since June 2019. The win inches him closer to breaking the $US 200,000 mark in total live earnings.
