WPT Prime Taiwan Main Event: Singapore’s Carter Chan delivers the bubble to earn Day 1A chip lead
World Poker Tour Prime Taiwan brought together 189 runners to the Main Event and after 11 hours of play, Singapore’s Carter Chan stole the show, delivering the bubble to end Day 1A. The Main Event opened at 1pm on Thursday, November 17 at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) in Taipei City. Welcoming in the players was WPT CEO Adam Pliska, along with WPT Live Events Specialist Danny McDonagh, WPT Host Ashleigh Lawrence, CTP Club’s Raymond Wong and Ross Wen.
Less than two hours in, the field breached 100 entries and eventually closed at 189. Among the bigwigs that graced the felt were Chen An Lin, Brian Tougias, and Yohwan Lim. Only the latter advanced, packing up the second largest stack out of the 24 remaining players. Another notable player surviving the heat wasYen Han “Pete” Chen though as the shortest stack.
Besting Lim by one spot was Carter Chan who eliminated Joseph Phua on the bubble. During the hand, Chan four-bet shoved and Phua called for his tournament life. Chan had , Phua , the board ran a nutty for a victorious flush to Chan.
The Main Event continues on Friday, November 18 with Day 1B up on the plate. Cards in the air at 1pm. It is expected to be a big one so for those looking to join the action, get there early to avoid the line.
