APPT Manila Main Event Sets New Record Prize Pool Of PHP 91M; Keiju Utsu Tops Day 1C

The 15th Edition of the Asia Pacific Poker set a new Main Event record with a staggering prize pool of PHP 91,071,360 (~USD 1,575,790). Over the three starting flights, the event drew an impressive 1,304 entries with Day 1C alone attracting the largest crowd of 707 entries.

The last flight to enter the record breaking APPT Manila Main Event concluded with 141 players out of the roaring 707 entries advancing to Day 2. Among them was Japan's Keiju Utsu, the day's closing flight leader. Stay tuned for the recap.

Utg Ricardo Torres raises 6500 and Maxwell Rosete call to see a flop 5♣ 2♣ A♦ . Torres continues for 7000, Rosete raises 15,000, Torres re-raises 37,000, Rosete flats and they head to the turn 2♥ . Again Torres fires with a large 28,000 bet, Rosete tank-calls. On the river 7♦ , Torres shoves his last 50,000, Rosete snap-calls and shows the winning set.

From utg, Seina Asagiri opens, utg+1 Patrick Enriquez three-bets 16,500, utg+2 Jun Ho Hyeon calls, back to Asagiri with a fold.

At the flop 8♣ 7♣ 6♥ , Enriquez checks to Hyeon who sends out 16,000, Enriquez answers with a shove of 100,000, Hyeon tanks then folds while showing Q♠ Q♦ .

From hijack, Chase Cokaliong opens 6500, cutoff Zhiqiang Liu calls, then button Guillem Segarra three-bets 16,000. Both Cokaliong and Liu call.

At the flop 2♠ Q♣ 5♦ , all three check to the turn 6♦ . First to act Cokaliong fires 16,000, Liu gets out of the way, Segarra calls, to bring the river 4♠ . Once again, Cokaliong leads out for 25,000, this time Segarra shoves 85,000, Cokaliong can afford it but goes deep in the tank for roughly three minutes then calls.

Ken Okada kicks off the hand with a min-raise, hijack Kitson Kho calls, big blind Bonifacio Mondalo re-raises 22,000, Okada folds Kho calls this as well.

At the flop 7♣ 9♦ 5♦ , Mondalo continues to fire with a 30,000 bet, Kho tank-calls, the turn is Q♣ . Again Mondalo puts pressure with a jam of 81,000 that covers Kho who tanks again then calls.

Shinya Maeda opens 5500 then calls Mark Almusajin's 17,500 re-pop, Flop comes T♠ 8♦ 4♠ , Almusajin continues for 12,500, Maeda folds.

The turn 8♥ and river 3♥ are not Cokaliong's outs for Hua to double up.

From utg+1 Takuya Morita min-raises, hijack Shayne Villanueva and small blind Chris Luwei call for a flop 3♠ 9♠ Q♥ . Morita continues 3500, Villanueva makes it 16,000, Luwei folds, Morita calls and they head to the turn K♣ . Villanueva continues the big bets laying out 20,000, Morita check-calls. With the river T♣ , both players opt to check.

Villanueva collects the pot with two pair.

Small blind Takaki Nishiguchi limps, big blind Itsuki Chiba bumps it up to 6000, Takaki three-bets 18,000, Chiba calls to end the preflop battle.

At the flop T♠ T♦ 6♠ , Takaki checks, Chiba bets 10,000, Takaki raises all in for 46,500, Chiba folds up.

Cutoff Fernando Picazo Sanchez opens 5000, small blind Edgar Asehan calls, big blind Jaejoong Kim three-bets 12,000, Sanchez calls while losing Asehan. At the flop 9♠ 5♥ 3♦ , Kim continues or 14,000, Sanchez jams 30,500, Kim tank-folds.

Cutoff Gavin Flynn raises 3000 and big blind Yuta Takazawa defends. On a flop A♣ 8♥ 7♣ , Flynn continues 2000, Takazawa check-calls. They then check down the turn 3♦ and river Q♦ . Takazawa flips open A♥ 5♦ , Flynn mucks.

Johnson Tan opens 2400, button Mike Takayama three-bets 9000, Tan four-bets 20,000, Takayama folds.

Bertrand Beaudoux three-bets and goes to the flop Q♣ T♣ 5♥ with two callers. They all check. Beaudoux bets 2500 on the turn 2500 and wins the pot.

Hyeonho Shin raises 2100, two players call, flop comes J♦ 4♦ 9♣ . Following a check, Hyeonho Shin c-bets 2300, button Katano Kenjie raises 10,400, one player folds, Shin three-bet jams. Katano calls.

John Carlo Sayo opens 3000, blinds call, flop runs 2♠ A♦ 8♦ . Sayo c-bets 1600, no takers.

Moon Kyung Ho raises 1600, two players call, big blind Eric Ceret three-bets 5500, Moon calls, two players fold for heads up. Action is checked to the turn 6♠ 9♠ 4♥ 5♠ , Ceret bets 2500, Moon calls, then it is back to checking the river 7♣ .

Mark Almusajin opens 1800, gets called, then button Seiji Sasaki three-bets 7500, only Almusajin calls. Both players check the flop Q♦ Q♠ 3♥ . Sasaki leads out 8000 on the Q♣ turn, Almusajin calls. On the river 7♥ , it's back to checking. Almusajin's 9♥ 9♣ is good for the win.

Three players in on a raised pot preflop check to the turn 9♣ 8♥ 4♣ 4♠ . Big blind Hwang Seong Il bets 2700, only small blind Alfie Poetra calls. The river 7♠ is checked once more.

Akito Kaneka raises 1400, three players join to fuel the pot. They then proceed to check down the board T♦ Q♣ K♦ 3♠ 4♣ . DK Kunwoo Kim shows 9♥ 9♣ and takes down the pot.

Jongbea Jang raises 1200, big blind Alfie Poetra makes the call. Jang continues 1600 on the flop 8♣ 3♦ 6♣ , Poetra check-raises 4700, Jang calls, turn drops 2♥ . Jang fires 10,000, this time Poetra gives up his hand.

Jason Kyle Magbanua calls a raise preflop then calls a 1500 flop bet at 8♦ K♥

Four players in on a raised pot then they all check to the river 9♦ J♣ 4♦ T♣ K♥ . Action is checked to button Jamie D'erf-Wheeler, he bets 9000, no callers.

Randy Seiyoung Oh bumps it up to 1400, two players call, flop is 8♠ T♠ Q♠ , Oh continues for 3000, John Dela Cruz calls while Hadaki Yasuhiro folds. On the turn 9♥ , Oh sends out 5000, Cruz shoves 16,300, Oh tank-calls.

Keiju Utsu bumps it up to 1300, gets re-raised by Yamato Nakai to 3700, Utsu calls. Nakai continues 2800 on a flop T♠ J♠ Q♣ , Utsu calls. Then on the turn 5♣, more chips go flying with Nakai laying out 8000, Utsu raises 20,000, Nakai tanks all in for 32,400, Utsu calls with slightly less behind.

Kenki Okamura opens 1500, two players call, flop comes 3♦ 2♣ 6♦ , Okamura c-bets 3500. This gets a fold from the button then a check-raise of 5500 from from Kashiyama Shota. Okamura calls. On the river K♣ , Shota shoves which is enough to claim the pot.

Hijack Chen Kai Yeh min-raises then c-bets 1800 on a flop 5♥ 3♣ J♦ . Caller Ryan Tan from the big blind calls again for a turn 7♥ . Yeh slides out 4000, Tan tank-calls. Yeh opts to check the river Q♦ after Tan. Tan shows J♠ 4♠ , Yen mucks.

Yuki Ho opens 1200, button Lijun Zhang calls, then both players check the flop 2♠ 4♣ 5♣ . Zhang leads out 2000 on the tur 9♠ and wins the pot that easy.

Kiwanont Sukhum opens 1100, blinds Amir Turkzadeh and Joemark Vasay call. On the flop T♦ 2♣ 6♦ , Sukhum continues for 1300, no caller.s
