Singapore’s The Naing, the champion of 2023 APT Summer Series Da Nang PL Omaha, leads the pack with a towering stack of 2,640,000 to bring into tomorrow's Final Day.

After sixteen 40-minute levels, Day 1 of the APT Phu Quoc VND 120,000,000 Super High Roller is in the books with 13 players remaining. A total of 55 entries (37 unique) were recorded at the Corona Theater, with numerous notable players generating a prize pool of VND 5,761,800,000 (~$226,840).

Naing maintained his momentum through the final level, capping off Day 1 perfectly by scooping a pot against Van Dong with turned trip queens, shortly after eliminating Dylan Foster with ace-queen.

The second-highest stack belongs to Denmark’s Martin Godsk Stausholm, the 2019 APT Manila High Roller Single Day champion, who surpassed the three-million milestone in total live earnings, accumulated impressive 2,340,000 chips to start Day 2.

Other notable players advancing to the Final Day include Mikael Andersson (920,000), Julian Warhurst (875,000), 2023 APT Incheon High Roller 8-Max champion Thanisorn Saelor (800,000), and Nevan Chang (245,000).

Manuel Blaschke opened the hijack to 50,000 and Phuong Tan defended from the big blind to take it into the streets.

Both read a flop of K♥ 4♥ 5♠ , and Tan checked the action to Manuel, who bet 30,000. Tan dropped in a call to see the board-pairing 5♥ land on the turn. The action went check-check.

The Q♣ dropped on the river, where Tan checked again to his opponent, and Manuel fired out a barrel of 380,000, forcing Tan to fold.

We caught the hand on the river where in a blind versus blind situation between the two Scandinavians Mikael Andersson bet 245,000 into a pot of 325,000 on J♦ T♦ 9♦ 6♦ 8♦ . After using one time bank, Martin Stausholm in the small-blind decided to call. Andersson tabled Q♦ T♣ for a straight flush. That's a great way to end day 1 for him.

The Naing from Singapore opened from the cut-off and got one caller in person of the button Van Dong. On Q♣ 5♦ 4♣ Naing checked and Dong bet out 50,000. Naing called and the turn was the Q♠ . Naing checked and Dong bet once more, this time for 100,000. Naing called again and the river brought the T♥ . Again Naing checked his action to Dong who put out a strong bet of 500,000. Naing only had to check his cards to make sure and then made the call.

Shortly after The Naing busted Dylan Foster in an all-in preflop situation with A♣ Q♣ against the Aussie's A♠ 8♣ . Great finish for The Naing who put himself in a great starting position for tomorrow's day 2.

Motoyoshi Okamura opened the hijack to 40,000 and received two callers, Martin Stausholm from the small blind and Mikael Andersson from the big blind.

Three players read a flop of 7♥ 3♥ J♠ , where Stausholm and Andersson checked the action to Okamura, who bet 55,000. Only Andersson dropped in a call.

The 3♠ landed on the turn, and the action went check-check. The river carried out the 7♦ , where Andersson changed his strategy and bet 175,000. Okamura snap-folded.

Julian Warhurst opened the cutoff to 40,000, and Phuong Tan three-bet to 110,000 on the button, which only Zhongxian Li called from the small blind.

Both players read a flop of 7♥ K♦ Q♦ and checked through to see a J♥ fall on the turn. The action went check-check again.

The river carried out a 6♥ , where the two kept the pace and checked to a free showdown. Tan tabled a flopped pair of kings with K♣ 9♣ to best a turned pair of jacks from Li’s A♠ J♣ .

Nevan Chang opened the cutoff to 40,000, and Julian Warhurst shoved all in on the button, which only Phuong Tan called.

Julian Warhurst: Q♣ Q♠

Warhurst picked up the lead with pocket queens against Tan’s pocket tens. A dry board ran out 8♠ 8♣ 6♦ 4♥ 2♥ , sealing a double up for Warhurst.

It folded around to Ankit Ahuja in the small-blind who opened it up to 60,000 against Julian Warhurst who defended his big-blind. On the 8♠ 7♣ 4♣ flop Ahuja continued his aggression with a 80,000 bet. Warhurst called and both players saw the 5♠ on the turn. Ahuja decided to put maximum pressure on Warhurst and move all-in for the Aussie's effective 275,000 chips. Warhurst did not have to think about it long before making the call.

The river bricked out and Ahuja loses a painful pot, while Warhurst might sleep better tonight.

Now players are on 15-minute break.

After calling the continuation bet from Blaschke in the big-blind and no action on the turn, Zhongxian Li bet out 56,000 on J♦ T♠ 2♦ 4♠ 3♦ and took down the pot. With only two more levels to play both players have a good chance to make Day 2 of the Super High Roller.

Dong's good run in the last couple of levels continues. Especially against Chang, he seems to win every pot tonight. On K♥ J♦ 9♠ Dong put out a continuation bet, which Chang called. Dong put out a more hefty bet on the 2♣ turn and Chang had to fold his hand.

In reverse roles, Chang opened and Dong defended his big-blind. On Q♦ 8♠ 5♠ A♥ Q♣ it got checked all the way through to the river where Dong led out for 53,000. Chang called but had once again concede the pot to Dong after the Australian tabled Q♥ J♥ .

The Naing raised to 32,000 from the cutoff and Motoyoshi Okamura defended from the big blind to take it into the streets.

A flop showed 5♦ 2♣ A♦ , and Okamura checked the action to Naing, who then bet 28,000. Okamura called to see the Q♠ turn. The action went check-check.

The river brought a K♠ , where both players checked to a free showdown. Okamura quickly turned over a rivered pair of kings with K♥ 3♠ , and Naing tossed his cards into the muck.

Martin Stausholm opened from middle-position and Mikael Andersson next to him flatted. On the J♠ 7♥ 5♣ flop Stausholm checked and Andersson bet 50,000. Stausholm called. The 8♥ turn went without action.

On the river came the 9♣ and Stausholm checked once more. Andersson bet 125,000, but had to fold his hand after Stausholm put out a cheeky check-raise to 400,000.

Phuong Tan raised to 35,000 from under the gun and Blaschke Manuel called on the button.

A flop rolled off 2♠ 5♦ 2♣ , and the two checked through to see an 8♥ fall on the turn, where they kept the pace and checked.

The river showed A♥ , and both elected to check to a free showdown. Tan tabled flopped trips of deuces with K♦ 2♦ , leaving Manuel to much his hand.

Thanisorn Saelor raised to 32,000 from under the gun and Win Meng Tan called from the cutoff.

Both saw a flop fill out A♠ Q♠ T♦ and checked through to the 8♦ turn, where the action went check-check.

The river brought a 7♣ , bringing up a bet of 32,000 from Saelor, and Tan quickly sent his cards back to the dealer.

Motoyoshi Okamura limped in from the small blind and Si Ng Pun checked from the big blind.

Both read the monotone flop of Q♦ K♦ 8♦ and checked through to see the 4♠ land on the turn, where Okamura checked the action to Pun, who sent a small bet of 15,000, which was enough to make the Japanese player muck the hand.

Nelson Dong, who registered during dinner break, is having himself a great level 13. First, he doubled up with 6♥ 6♦ against Nevan Chang's A♥ 8♦ . Then shortly after he flatted the open from Zhongxian Li, both in early-position, and Pham Nghia also went along in the big-blind. The flop came down A♦ J♥ 9♣ and Dong called the continuation bet from Li, while Nghia folded.

The turn brought the 2♣ , Li bet once again, this time 78,000 and Dong called once more. The board pairing J♦ appeared on the river and it was time for Li to slow down and check. Dong thought for a little bit before putting out a hefty bet of 230,000. Li made the call, but had to concede the pot after Dong tabled A♠ J♠ for a full house.

The Naing opened the cutoff to 25,000 and Motoyoshi Okamura defended from the big blind.

Both saw a flop roll off J♦ 9♦ J♠ , bringing flush and straight draw possibilities, and Okamura checked the action to Naing, who bet 18,000. Okamura then put in a raise to 65,000, and this was enough to make his opponent concede the pot.

Win Meng Tan from under the gun, Gab Yong Kim from the hijack, and Phuong Tan on the button limped in, which Milos Skrbic checked from the big blind.

Four players saw a flop of A♥ 4♣ 8♠ , this was followed by a string of checks until Kim, who bet 17,000. Skirbic and Tan called to see the 8♣ turn, where Skirbic and Tan checked over, and Kim bet 30,000 this time. Skrbic folded. Tan put in a raise to 80,000, but this didn’t deter Kim from making a shove. Tan snap-called.

Gag Yong Kim: T♥ 8♥

Win Meng Tan: A♠ A♦

Tan picked up the lead flopping a set of aces, which improved to a full house on the turn, leaving Kim's turned trips eights with little chance to win. The dealer sent a T♠ , also upgrading Kim’s trips to a full house but still no match for Tan’s.

Zhongxian Li opened from the button and Dylan Foster defended his big-blind. On A♥ 9♦ 7♣ Li continued with a small bet which got raised to 55,000 by Foster. Li called and both players saw a J♣ on the turn. Foster continued his aggression with a 80,000 which once more got called by Li.

The river brought the board pairing 9♠ and Foster decided to give up his hand and check. Li quickly checked behind. Foster tabled T♦ 6♠ for a missed gutshot, while Li showed J♠ 8♠ for the winner.

Nevan Chang raised to 20,000 from under the gun and Kyosuke Nagami defended from the big blind.

Both saw a flop fill out K♦ 8♦ 5♥ , and Nagami checked the action to Chang, who bet 25,000, which Nagami put in a raise to 60,000. However, this didn’t deter Chang from making a three-bet to 125,000 after a long time. Nagami dropped in a call.

The T♣ fell on the turn, where Nagami checked over, and Chang fired out 250,000. Nagami then shoved all in and got snap-called by Chang.

Kyosuke Nagami: Q♥ 8♠

Nevan Chang: 5♠ 5♣

Nagami flopped a pair of eights but he didn’t expect a flopped set of fives from Chang, who picked up the lead. Soon, the dealer delivered the bricky 4♥ on the river, announcing the elimination of Nagami.

Nguyen Tan Phuong is one of the most entertaining players to be seen in Day 1 of the APT Super High Roller. It certainly helps as well that he is running well today. In a blind versus blind situation he raised it up to 28,000 against the completion of Mingcong Chen. The small-blind called and both players saw a flop of A♣ J♠ 4♥ .

Chen started with a check, same went for Nguyen. The turn brought the 8♦ and Chen started the postflop betting with a 25,000 bet. Nguyen called and the river was the 6♠. Chen put out a strong bet of 80,000 and without blinking an eye Nguyen moved all-in. The baffled Chen had to throw his hand into the muck.

The players are now on their 75-minute dinner break. Registration will still be open throughout that break, but will close once level 12 is underway.

On the 4♣ Q♥ T♦ flop, there were around 30,000 chips in the middle when Van Dong checked it over from the big blind before Justin Tsui bet 17,000 on the button. Dong dropped in a call.

Both read a Q♠ turn and checked through to see the 7♦ fall on the river, where the two decided to check to a free showdown.

Dong tabled 8♠ 4♠ for a flopped pair of fours, and it was enough to make Tsui toss his cards back into the muck.

After opening from the button and getting called by the big-blind, Andersson continued with a small continuation bet on J♣ J♦ 8♥ . Pham Nghia responded with a raise to 40,000. Andersson called and the turn brought the 5♦ . Both players checked and the A♦ appeared on the river. Nghia checked once more, but Andersson opened up the action again by betting 37,500. Nghia did not believe him and quickly made the call, but got shown J♥ 6♥ for flopped trips for Andersson.

The action was picked up on the flop, showing 7♦ 5♣ 2♥ with around 48,000 chips in the middle as Phanlert Sukonthachartnant checked the action form the cutoff to The Naing on the button, who bet 16,000. Sukonthachartnant then shoved all in for 199,000. Naing dropped in a call.

Both players held king-seven, but Naing picked up a backdoor flush draw, leaving him a small chance to win the pot. The dry runout quickly filled out J♣ K♥ , making both players chop the pot.

The Naing limped in from the small blind and John Perry shoved all in from the big blind, which Naing snap-called.

Naing picked up the lead with pocket jacks. A clean flop filled out 6♦ 2♠ 6♣ , and Perry was looking to spike a queen to win the pot. Swiftly, the dealer delivered a runout T♦ A♥ , showing the way out for Perry.

Martin Stausholm raised to 16,000 from under the gun and Thanisorn Saelor called on the button.

On the flop of J♥ 6♣ 4♣ , Stausholm bet 22,000 and Saelor dropped in a call to see the Q♦ fall on the turn, where Stausholm bet 60,000. However, Saelor shoved all in for 196,000 after thinking for a while, and Stausholm snap-called, leaving him drawing dead through river 5♠ .

Thanisor Saelor: 4♦ 4♠

The action picked up on the turn with the board running out 7♦ 5♥ K♠ 4♣ with around 52,000 chips in the middle when Dylan Foster checked the action from under the gun to Zhonsxian Li from middle position. Foster made the call.

Both read the river bring a 2♦ and decided to check through to a free showdown. Foster tabled 9♥ 9♠ for a pair, leaving Li to toss his cards into the muck.

Chen Peng opened to 16,000 from early-position and Mikael Andersson on the button went along before Ankit Ahjuya in the small-blind raised it to 75,000. Next to him Pham Nghia in the big-blind put in a cold call. The action was back on the original opener who made a four-bet to 220,000. The button got out of the way and Ahjuya moved all-in, equaling 439,000. The big-blind folded and Peng called, covering Ahjuya.

It was an exciting flip, by far the biggest pot we have seen today. The board ran out 5♦ 5♥ 6♦ 6♠ 4♣ , busting Ahjuya while giving Peng a huge stack.

On the flop of 3♥ J♠ 5♠ , bringing flush possibilities, Sean Ooi from the big blind and The Naing from under the gun checked the action to Nevan Chang from the hijack, who bet 20,000. Only Ooi stuck around.

Both saw the K♠ fall on the turn, and the action went check-check.

A 2♠ dropped on the river, where Ooi bet 25,000. This was enough to force his opponent to muck the hand.

Milos Skrbic opened from the cut-off and got three-bet to 50,000 by the Japanese Motoyoshi Okamura next to him. Skrbic responded with a four-bet to 120,000 which Okamura called. The flop came down A♣ J♠ 7♠ and the Serbian player put out a 45,000 continuation bet. Okamura wasted no time and jammed all-in for around 150,000 more. Skrbic made the call.

The 2♣ on the turn gave Okamura additional flush outs, but the 9♦ sealed his fate and gave Skrbic and nice stack. After running bad early in his first bullet, momentum might have shifted for him now.

The players are on their third break of their day now. The total number of entries is up to 35 players out of which 20 still remain. Registration is still open until 8:35pm.

Ankit Ahjuya opened from the button and Nagami defended his big-blind. On K♣ J♦ 7♠ Ahjuya continued with a small bet. Nagami called and the turn brought the 6♣ . Nagami checked and Ahjuya put out a hefty bet of 60,000. Nagami called once more.

On the river appeared the 9♠ , Nagami checked and Ahjuya bet a third time for an amount of 150,000, almost putting Nagami all-in. After using a time bank, Nagami decided to throw in a call and was shown the bad news as he could not beat Ahjuya K♠ J♦ .

Martin Stausholm limped in from the small blind and Nelson Dong checked from the big blind.

Both saw a flop of T♠ 6♣ 2♠ and checked through to see the 7♥ fall on the turn. The action went check-check again.

A 4♠ landed on the river, and the two elected to check to a free showdown. Stausholm tabled A♣ 8♦ for ace-high, and Dong tossed his cards into the muck, forfeiting the pot.

With the board running out A♣ T♠ K♥ 6♣ 2♥ and around 123,500 chips in the middle, Mingcong Chen bet 85,000 from the button after tanking for a long time. Martin Stausholm from the big blind check-called to take it to a showdown.

Chen flipped a flopped pair of kings with K♦ 3♦ , but it still couldn’t best a flopped of pair of aces from Stausholm’s A♥ 7♥ , which earned Stausholm the sizable pot.

From the early-position, Japanese Kyosuke Nagami opened up the action and only got called by Mikael Andersson on the button. The Japanese player checked his option on J♥ 8♦ 3♦ , but when Andersson put out a 12,000 bet, the preflop opener raised to 42,000. Andersson called and both players saw the board pairing 8♣ on the turn. Nagami pushed all-in for 113,000 which was enough to make the Swedish player fold.

On the flop of Q♠ 8♥ 8♠ , there were 40,500 chips in the pot when Phanlert Sukonthachartnant checked the action from the big blind to Adrien Favre on the button, who bet 8,000. Sukonthachartnant stuck around.

The A♦ landed on the turn, Sukonthachartnant checked to Favre again, who bet 25,000 this time. However, Sukonthachartnant then put in a raise to 60,000 and Favre called.

The action picked up on the flop of 9♦ 2♣ 2♥ with 33,000 chips in the middle when Nevan Chang checked the action to Phanlert Sukoknthachrtnanat from under the gun, who bet 6,000. Chang dropped in a call.

The Q♥ landed on the turn, and Chang checked it to his opponent again. Sukonthachartnanat also elected to check it over after thinking for a while.

An A♥ came on the river, where Chang kept his strategy and checked before Sukonthachartnanat fired out 31,000, which was enough to make his opponent fold.

Hye Park opened to 13,000 on the button and Ankit Ahjuya defended from the big blind.

Naing picked up the lead with pocket aces. The flop filled out A♠ J♣ K♠ , improving Nguyen to two pair, which was still not enough to beat a dominating set of aces from Naing. The dealer swiftly delivered a runout of 2♥ 5♣ , busting Nguyen out of the table.

Pham Nghia limped in from the small blind and Van Dong checked to take it into the streets from the big blind.

Both read the flop of 6♦ 6♥ A♥ and checked through to see the A♠ fall on the turn, where Nghia bet 7,000 and Dong called.

The river brought 9♠ , and Nghia fired out 11,500. Dong snap-called. Nghia tabled two pair with K♠ 2♣ , making his opponent muck his hand.

It folded around to Ankit Ahjuya in the small-blind who opened it up to 17,500. Justin Tsui called and the flop was T♦ T♣ 5♣ . The Indian pro bet 20,000 which quickly got called by Tsui. Ahjuya bet another 20,000 on the 9♣ turn, but Tsui did not go anywhere and called once again.

The river 4♣ gave four cards to a flush and Ahjuya slowed down and checked. Tsui put out a 80,000 bet and after about 30 seconds of thinking time, Ahjuya led his hand go.

Zhongxian Li opened the hijack to 8,000 and Chi Ho Yeung defended from the big blind.

The two saw a flop roll off 2♣ 6♥ 7♠ , and Yeung bet 5,000 to which Li put in a raise to 12,000. Yeung dropped in a call.

The turn brought a T♣ , and the action went check-check. A K♥ landed on the river, where Yeung bet 25,000. Li then raised to 35,000, leaving Yeung no choice to muck his hand.

Justin Tsui opened to 9,000 from the early-position and Gab Yong Kim once more put in a three-bet to 28,500. Tsui called and the flop came down A♦ J♣ T♦ . Both players checked and the turn brought another ace, the A♠ . Tsui led out for 32,000 and Kim called. The 5♠ appeared on the river and Tsui bet out a hefty 135,000. After considering for some time, Kim reluctantly let his hand go.

Phanlert Sukonthachartnanat opened the cutoff to 9,000 and received two callers, Chanpanya Saifah on the button and Milos Skrbic from the big blind.

Adrien Favre opened from the early-position and got three-bet by Gab Yong Kim in middle-position. On T♠ 9♠ 6♦ Favre checked and Kim went for a 45,000 continuation bet. After using a couple time banks Favre decided to go all-in for around 190,000. Kim snap-called and Favre's tournament life was on the line.

The turn and river brought no help for Favre as the board ran out 8♣ 4♥ . Adrien Favre busted, but has rebought already.

Nevan Chang who has had a tough day so far, just managed to get a double-up. Chanpanya Saifah opened from early-position and only Nevan Chang in the big-blind called. Saifah continued with a 4,000 bet on T♥ T♦ 9♥ and Chang raised to 13,000. Saifah called and the players saw a 9♣ on the turn. Chang bet again 13,000 and Saifah called.

The river was the 5♦ and Chang jammed his remaining 41,000 all-in. After a few seconds of consideration time, Saifah decided his hand was too strong and the odds were too good to fold.

The Naing opened up the action from the early-position and Milos Skrbic in the small-blind raised to 21,000. Naing called and they were heads-up to a flop of J♣ 8♠ 4♦ . Both players checked and the turn brought the Q♠ . Skrbic put out a delayed continuation bet of 15,000 which Naing called.

On the 4♥ river Skrbic slowed down again, but after using one time bank, Naing put him all-in to which the Serbian player had to fold.

Justin Tsui opened the hijack to 7,000 and Kyosuke Nagami called from the button to take it into the streets.

Both read the flop of 5♥ K♦ 4♦ and checked through to see the Q♦ turn, where Tsui bet 15,000. This was enough to make Nagami fold his hand.

Ankit Ahjuya opened the hijack to 6,000 and Gab Yong Kim defended from the big blind.

Phanlert Sukonthachartnant opened from early-position and The Naing defended his big-blind. The open-raiser continued with a bet on J♣ 5♦ 4♦ , but got check-raised to 20,000 by Naing. The Thai national called and also called a 30,000 bet on the 2♠ turn. Naing bet a third time on the 5♥ river for an amount of 50,000 chips, but Sukonthachartnant did not call, instead he went for a raise to 120,000 to which Naing folded.

The river came 6♦ , and Skrbic bet 18,000, which Sukonthachartnant put in a raise to 45,500, sending Skrbic into the tank. Eventually, Skrbic threw his cards into the muck.

Milos Skrbic opened from early-position and got The Naing, Phanlert Sukonthachartnant, and Chi Yeung to see a flop with him. This came down K♦ 6♦ 8♦ and all four players checked.

On the 3♠ turn the Thai national Sukonthachartnant bet out 8,500. Only the preflop opener Skrbic called.

The 3♥ appeared on the river and Sukonthachartnant bet out once more, this time for 16,000. Skrbic quickly made the call, but got shown the bad news as the Thai player showed 3♦ 2♦ for a flopped flush.

Former WSOP Main Event finalist Milos Skrbic has gotten off to a tough start on his Vietnam trip. In this hand he check-raised the flop to 9,000, sitting in the big-blind against John Perry on the button on A♣ K♥ 4♦ . Perry called and Skrbic continued with a 23,000 bet on the 7♦ turn. Perry called once more and when the river hit, Skrbic checked and folded to Perry's 35,000 bet.

Ankit Ahjuya limped in from the small blind and Martin Stausholm checked from big blind.

Martin Stausholm bet 2,000 from under the gun, and Nevan Chang three-bet to 7,000 from the cutoff, which didn’t deter Stausholm from making a four-bet to 17,000. Chang made the call.

On a flop of 4♣ 9♥ Q♥ , Stausholm fired 15,000 and Chang called to see the 5♣ deliver on the turn, where Stausholm fired 75,000, sending Chang into the tank. After around 1 minute, Chang dropped in a call.

The 8♠ landed on the river, and Stausholm shoved all in for around 211,000. Chang ultimately threw his cards back to the dealer after a long time.
