During Day 2 of the TWD 50,000 APT Main Event, it was confirmed that the event has entered the history books as the biggest and richest international event in Taiwan! The Main Event drew 1,991 entries, which in-turn generated a record-breaking prize pool of TWD 86,011,200 (~USD 2,709,014), with a top prize of TWD 14,413,200 (~USD 453,959). With this, 295 players are locked up for a guaranteed payday. Thank you for the amazing support.

A the combined survivors from Flights A and C (less three double qualifiers whose shortest stacks were removed from play) were joined by a further 65 Day 2 late entries and these 414 players duked it out over five 60-minute levels.

Only 164 players made the cut for Day 3. Here is a recap of what happened today in Day 2 of the Main Event:

Australia’s Dylan Wayne Foster accumulated 575,000 chips and currently sits on the top of the chip leaderboard. Prior to the event, Foster has only ever managed second place in an APT event, winning over $75,000 in APT Summer Series Hanoi, Vietnam 2023.

The second-biggest stack of 562,000 belongs to Macau’s Sio Fat Lau who started in 25th place at the beginning of today and managed to hoard over 300,000 chips to climb up on the board.

Taiwan’s Cheng Yen Lo (554,000) lost his opportunity to be the chip leader as Lo went too far on a hand with Tomoki Terashima (518,500). Lo folded his hand, losing the pot with no help received from the deck.

Other notables to make it through are Shixiang Khoo (419,000), Jacob Ikuma (373,500), Lester Edoc (358,000), Daniel John Neilson (266,000), Yohwan “BoxeR” Lim (224,500), and Henry Kilbane (83,000).

With totaling 35,000 chips in the middle and the flop spreading 5♠ 3♣ 6♠ , Wongyu Kang bet 15,000 on the button before Sheng-Kuang Fu check-called from the big blind, and Wei Jen Wang mucked his hand.

Both players saw the T♦ fell on the turn and checked through until the river brought a 9♦ which Fu bet 4,000, and Kong made the call.

Action folded to Man Fei Caleb Chui in big blind after Motoyoshi Okumura opened under-the-gun to 9,000. Chui called and the flop ran J♠ T♦ J♣ . Allowing the initial raiser to lead, Chui check-called Okumura's bet of 7,000 on the turn 4♠ .

Action passed to Okumura again, the aggressor bet 15,000 on the river 2♦ . Chui called just to muck his hand after seeing Okumura's Q♥ T♥

Tournament Director Lloyd Fontillas hard at work as APT Taipei Poker Classic reaches another milestone.

Cheng Yen Lo raised to 18,000 from the hijack, and Tomoki Terashima three-bet to 23,000 on the button which Lo four-bet to 60,000 and was called by Terashima.

Lo bet 40,000 on the 3♣ J♣ 8♦ flop which was snap-called by Terashima.

Both players saw a 5♥ hit on the turn and slowed down the pace as they checked through to see the 6♣ river which Lo check-folded after Terashima fired 150,000 chips.

The runout came Q♣ 3♣ 9♥ 3♥ with the pot totaling 24,000, Minoru Murano bet 8,000 from the big blind, and Yao Hui Mok called from the hijack.

A board-pairing 9♦ rolled off on the river, and Murano fired 16,000 which Mok stuck around.

Mok tabled queen-jack for against queen-ten from Murano and earned himself the pot with kicker jack.

Players are on their last 15-minute of the day.

We reached the table with Zhi Iang Png in early position initiating action with an all-in to be solely called by cut-off player Kenny Shih. It was a classic K♠ K♥ versus Q♣ Q♦ showdown between Png and Shih, who held the latter hole cards.

The winner was obvious with a board of 5♦ 9♦ T♣ 8♠ 3♦ . While the dealer was pushing the chips to Png who had doubled up, Shih was talking to his seatmate in the vernacular showing his one big blind stack when he suddenly wailed and said, "Please, no....". We turn around to see the tournament director had arrived with trays breaking the table up.

Kwok Hin Lai jammed all-in after Wai Huen Lee opened with a raise of 6,000. Lai's A♥ Q♠ went up against Lee's K♠ Q♣ to see a board of 8♣ 5♠ A♦ J♥ A♠ giving Lai trips nearing the end of the day.

A runout ran out J♥ J♠ 8♦ 9♠ 6♦ with totaling 38,000 chips in the middle, Ikuma Jacob bet 18,500 from the small blind, and Buchita Kowwilaisa called on the button.

Kowwilaisa tabled queen-ten for a straight against the ace-ten from Jacob.

Action folded to cut-off, Terashima Tomoki opened for 6,500 to be called by the button Ching En Chen. Both players checked to the flop 8♣ 2♠ A♥ . The turn 5♣ was check-called by Tomoki after a bet of 9,500. Another check call was done by Tomoki after a 6,000 bet from Chen to show that both players hit the ace on the board but slowed the betting because of a possible kicker issue.

Alexander Khvatov bet 6,500 from the hijack on the flop of 4♣ 7♣ 3♦ which Jennifer Cassell called from the small blind.

Both saw a 2♦ fall on the turn and checked through. The T♥ landed on the river which Cassell check-folded after Khvatov fired 21,000 chips.

With totaling 21,500 chips in the middle, the flop T♣ 5♣ 6♥ spread which Devid Berlin check-called from the small blind after Miaomiao Huang bet 5,000 from the big blind and Chao-Yu Lu called from the hijack.

A 2♣ fell on the turn, and three players checked it through to see the 7♣ river which Berlin checked, but Huang fired 15,000, making Lin and Berlin snap-fold.

Hiroyuki Tane opened with a raise of 5,500 at middle position to be three-bet 27,500 by Ugawa Yuto at hi-jack. Sorakit Saengcharuern, who had been watching the action quietly, decided to jam his chips in big blind position putting his tournament life at risk.

Tane asked the dealer for a count then folded. Yuto made the call.

The dealer dealt a board of 4♦ 7♦ J♣ A♣ 8♠ giving Saengcharuern the Ace that he was hoping for to double up.

At the feature table, Chia Yun Wu raised to 5,500 from early position, and only Henry Kilbane made the call from the big blind.

Both saw the 4♥ 6♠ 5♠ flop which Kilbane bet 4,500 and was snap-called by Wu.

A 5♥ fell on the turn, and Kilbane fired another bet of 19,000 which Wu stuck around to see the J♥ river. Kilbane checked the action to Wu who bet 35,000. Kilbane made the call.

Wu received help from the river and scooped the pot by completing a flush.

This hand is 30 minutes delayed.

Both players saw the flop of 8♣ A♠ J♠ , but they checked through to see the A♣ turn which they checked again. After a 3♦ landed on the river, Held fired 45,000, but Kilbane mucked his hand.

Held flopped the nut with his king-ten but unfortunately, Kilbane didn’t fall in the trap with his pocket nines.

This hand is 30 minutes delayed.

We picked up the action with Gibaek Lee considering the raise of Dylan Foster to 14,000 after he initiated action with a bet of 4,500 on a flop of J♠ 7♦ T♥ . He finally made the call to see a turn of Q♠ which both players checked.

The action at the river really made Lee think with a lot of shaking of the head, after Foster led out with 21,500. Lee made a crying call to Foster's two-pair against his mid-pair with K♣ J♦

Pitipong Posri bet 25,000 on the board running 9♥ 6♥ 4♦ 6♣ T♣ , sending Yiu Yeung Leung into the tank. Eventually, Leung folded.

Now players are having their first 15-minute break now.

Hirokazu Miyoshi opened to 2,000 from the small blind, and only Phan Vo Nhut stuck around from the big blind.

They saw the 6♠ T♥ K♦ flop spread, and Miyoshi bet 2,500 which forced Nhut to snap-fold.

Masafumi Iijima opened to 4,000 from under the gun and Wei-Chun Liu three-bet to 8,000 on the button which Iijima made the call.

On the flop of 9♣ 9♥ A♦ , Iijima check-folded after Liu fired 10,000.

Japan’s Murata Masayuki opened to 4,000 on the button and only his countrymate Masafumi Iijima stuck around from the big blind.

Both players saw the Q♠ J♣ 4♦ flop which Iijima quickly check-folded after Murata bet 4,000.

Yan Lin Li opened to 4,000 from the hijack, and only Christopher Trang called from the button.

Li bet 4,000 on a flop of A♥ T♥ 6♣ which Trang stuck around. With an 8♠ falling on the turn, Li check-folded after Trang fired a barrel of 55,000

Zhang Wen opened to 4,000 from under the gun which only Kassam Rehman called from the big blind.

Both saw the 2♦ 9♥ J♥ flop spread, and Wen bet 2,800 which Rehman raised to 8,500. Wen called.

Rehman shoved all in for 28,300 after seeing the K♠ land on the turn, and Wen snap-called.

A bricky 8♣ delivered on the turn, and Wen scored the pot with kicker ace together with the elimination of Rehman.

Under-the-Gun player Yun Wei Lam shoved all-in immediately after he saw his cards to be followed by the player on his left Hai Nam Hoang to do exactly the same thing. Masafumi Iijima at the dealer button who covered both players just thought about it from a few seconds to count a possible side pot before calling the all-ins.

Lam, looking for a triple up was feeling happy being ahead of every one when the dealer dealt a flop of 6♥ 4♠ 7♣ . Hoang was hopeful as he got an open-ended straight draw on the flop. The 8♣ turn gave Hoang a huge smile and was anxiously waiting for the river to scoop his tripled up stack.

The 5♣ river showed a straight on the board ending the hand with a three-way chop. The dealer told the players to get their own chips back as Iijima looked relieved he didn't lose any chips in the hand.

We arrived at the table with two players already all-in with the board showing 2♠ T♣ 6♦ 5♥ T♥ with at risk player Jongtae Kim holding 6♣ 6♠ against Chumpon Naisanthat with J♣ J♥ . Kim scooped his chips for his set.

We look away for a few minutes and Kim was one again in a hand considering the all-in shove of Joris Mischl in middle position on a board of 7♦ 3♠ 5♦ 7♣ . Kim was tanking when he finally asked, "Do you have a seven? It's not a seven right?"

Mischl replied,"Yes, yes it's a seven." Kim continued, "Pocket tens? Will you show if I fold?" Kim folded when Mischl replied in the negative but still showed an ace as he scooped the pot.

With a flop running 2♣ 3♠ 9♥ and around 17,000 chips in the middle, Tanawat Soontanont bet 4,200 from middle position and was called by Yan Kay Ip on the button.

A 5♣ hit on the turn, making Soontanont check-called after Ip fired a barrel of 14,700 to see the T♦ river which this time Soontanont check-folded as Ip fired out 52,400.

Wimalaratna Welggama raised to 1,600 from under the gun, and Man Fei Chui three-bet to 3,200 from the hijack which Masatoshi Tanaka called, and Wai Kit Lau cold four-bet to 14,800 from the cutoff. This was followed by a string of folds from other players, sending the pot to Wai.

Thijs Hilberts opened to 3,600 from under the gun and was only called by Ho Cheung Yeung from the small blind.

With the 4♠ T♥ A♣ flop coming, Yeung check-called after Hilberts continuation bet for 3,500.

A 3♦ slid on the turn which Yeung check-called again after Hilberts fired a barrel of 12,500. The river brought the 6♠ which both players checked through, and Yeung showed his A♥ Q♥ for top pair, making Hilberts fold.

With less than 20 big blinds Stephen Song at under-the-gun +1 was waiting for Hiu Ying Lai to act when she opened for 3,200. With the raise, Song jammed his chips into the pot and only the initial raiser called after some time.

The board showed K♠ 9♠ T♦ 7♠ 9♣ giving Song the much needed chips to last longer in the day.

Sang Woo Chun got one caller in big blind Yuen Shan Chui, when he initiated action with a raise of 3,600 from middle position pre-flop. Checked to Chun, he shot another 4,500 on the flop of 5♣ 7♣ 5♥ to be called once again by Chui.

The same pattern happened on the Turn of 3♥ but this time Chun fired 12,000 which got an all-in reaction from Chui. Chun called to show A♥ 7♥ against Chui's 5♠ 4♥ for a two-pair. Sadly, the river Q♥ gave Chun a flush eliminating Chui.

With around 11,500 chips in the pot, the flop ran out T♦ 9♥ 2♣ which Sheng-Kuang Fu bet 3,500 from middle position, and only Curtis Lim on the button and Ho Cheung Yeung from the big blind stuck around.

A 2♠ fell on the turn, and Yeung folded before Fu bet 13,000, and Lim made the call to see the 8♦ river which both players checked through and Fu tabled K♠ Q♣ and Lim quickly mucked his hand.

Regarding Typhoon Krathon, at this time there are no adjustments to our Wednesday, October 2nd, tournament schedule. Please watch comms for both APT and CTP as this is a developing situation and any adjustments will be announced here first.

Today sees the survivors from Flight A and C play out Day 2 of TWD 50,000 APT Main Event at 11:00 am local time with the clock set as 60 minutes throughout the five-level play and starting at 800/1,600 with a big blind ante.

There were 363 stacks brought into Day 2 from a total of 830 entries, and players who are qualified twice, meaning their shortest stack will be removed from play.

Another Day 2 play for Flight B/D gets underway on the same day at 5:30 pm, meaning we can expect the total prize pool and payout information today.

Japan's Keigo Kubo, who ended the opening flight with a total of 420,600 chips, is leading the board with Nicholas Go (398,600), Yuya Arito (335,400), Ee How Ong (313,200) chasing after closely. Former two-time APT Main Event champion Philippines' Lester Edoc (188,000), and APT Summer Series Da Nang Main Event Champion Shixiang Khoo (48,500) are also in pursuit.
