Attractions At Sihanoukville

While the festival is the main attraction, poker players who make the worthwhile trek to the lovely coastal city of Sihanoukville, located at the Gulf of Thailand, will also be treated to numerous activities and attractions that this part of Cambodia has to offer.

For one – this part of Cambodia is known as a paradise for beach lovers. There are a variety of beaches, tropical islands and mangrove jungles that are part of the Ream National Park.

Prince Island (Koh Sampoch) is one of the hidden gems of the Gulf of Thailand which offers a secluded retreat among its azure waters and golden sand beach. Visitors will have a relaxed time snorkelling, swimming and sun-bathing.

For a more mid-range upscale experience, the long and sandy stretch of Ochheuteal  Beach offers restaurants and nice hotels with places to hang out under grass huts with a chill-out atmosphere. Other beaches of note include the less-touristy Otres Beach and the untouched Ream Beach.

For a more cultural experience, there is the famous Wat Leu Pagoda, which is perched atop the Sihanoukville mountain  and offers a breath-taking view of its stone statues.

Wat Krom Temple is also one of the area’s revered historical sites and more popular tourist attractions, known for its architecture and intricately carved statues. A highlight of visiting Wat Krom is the chance to see its ancient treasures up close, such as the sacred statue of Buddha, which is believed to bring good fortune and blessings to those who pay homage. Cambodia is also very proud of its coffee culture and Brown Coffee is one of the best places to experience the perfect blend of coffee while enjoying the sea view and the sunset.

For the foodies, the Fat Goose Restaurant & Bar offers a wide-range of food at a semi-substantial price. Their specialty includes a Boneless Prime Beef Rib cooked in a 48 hour sous vide and a slow-cooked Leg of Lamb done in a 12 hour sous vide. At certain nights, they even have live music.

A more trendy spot is LEVEL 22 with specialty cocktails and a creative Pan-Asian menu with a mix of lounge vibes and live DJ performances.

For a more local fare, you may want to try some home-coked type meals at Sandan and or head over to Poipet BBQ for some barbecue street food.

Mostly all food places around Sihanoukville are vegetarian and vegan-conscious for those who have those dietary restrictions.
