The rules of a flipout are pretty simple. There are 10 players who get 3 cards each face-up. Meaning, all players can see all the cards. With that information, a player will pick the best two cards and will go all-in against all the other cards. The dealer will deal a the five-card board and whoever has the best hand wins. A little bit of skill and a whole lot of luck.

Some of the lucky ones who won their 10-handed flipouts and get a chance to advance to the Day 2 final with 200,000 chips in tow are:

Quick Question With Oliver Weis

Oliver Weis

How Do You Feel About Winning The Event?

Yeah, It was nice. I like the tournament in Korea. Didn't play in Asia for quite some time, couple of years. It was very spontaneous to come here.

What made you decide to come and play here in Asia?

I had a good flight, but there's no amazing tournament in Europe right now. Nikola (aka Niko Koop) told me they have some good tournaments here (Asia). So I decided to come here.

What do you love about playing here in Asia?

I really like it here because people play fast, dealers are good, and staffs are good. It's a lot way more fun compare to the US and Europe. Here it's good atmosphere and everyone doesn't take it like too serious.

Can we expect you to come here again and play in Asia?

Yes, 100%.

Both are Germans and both are good friends. So when it was time to go heads-up between Niko Koop and Oliver Weis, the two decided on a deal. They divided the remaining payout among themselves and played a flipout for the trophy. Oliver Weis won.

Because of the deal, Niko Koop takes home KRW 326,991,000 (~USD 248,000) as the runner-up and Oliver Weis gets a share of KR 370,530,000 (~USD 281,000) plus the champion's trophy.

This win will improve Oliver Weis' total live cash earnings to over USD 2 Million. The last time Oliver Weis won a championship was back in early February this year when he won the NLHE - EPT High Roller event of the European Poker Tour - EPT Paris. He has had some significant cashes since then, but, of course, it is so much better when you're doing the trophy lifting.

Yang Haibo Wins Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) Final, Qiang Xu Places 2nd

Yang Haibo: Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) Final Champion

Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) Final

Blinds 100,000/200,000 Ante 200,000

Yang Haibo made the call from the dealer button and Qiang Xu put all his bullets into action, going all-in with 2,800,000. Haibo tanked a while, played with his chips a while, maybe whispered something to the universe and made the call. Qiang Xu showed K Q , which clearly dominated the K 8 of Yang Haibo. The flop came K 2 2 and cemented Qiang Xu's dominance. Four aces to tie and three 8's to win. 7 outs. The turn 6 was no help. And then... the river 8. Yang Haibo makes a better two-pair and wins the Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) Final. When the poker gods smile at you, they throw you a river!

Qiang Xu finishes at 2nd place and gets to take home KRW 29,931,300 (~USD 22,700), which could be worth two weeks of five-star living at the Maldives.

Yang Haibo takes the title of champion and the trophy that comes with it, and not to forget the champion's payout of KRW 47,020,000 (~USD 35,600), which is the cost of a Harley Davidson touring bike.

Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) Final

Blinds 100,000/200,000 Ante 200,000

Heads-up. Yang Haibo vs. Qiang Xu. Qiang Xu has a 2:1 advantage over Yang Haibo.

Yang Haibo makes the call at the button and Qiang Xu checks his option to see a flop of 2 T 5 . Qiang checks and Haibo fires 300,000. Qiang three-bets to 900,000 and Haibo risks his 4,650,000. Qiang tanks but makes the call. Yang Haibo flashes J 8 while Qiang Xu shows K T . Qiang leads with the top pair and a healthy kicker, but Haibo is looking for a flush draw or a Jack. 12 outs. The turn throws a 5 and the river throws a J, which gives Haibo the win with a better pair.

Li Pei is the new chip leader after the break with 1,140,000 chips, and is the only millionaire so far. Of the 48 ITM players who came back to play for the Day 2 Final, only 23 still remain standing. The chip leader at the start of the day was Pham Bao, but a few big hits has reduced his stack to just around 300,000. Such is poker. The chip lead may help a player get deep in the tournament, but it doesn't necessarily guarantee a championship. There's still much poker to play, and maybe Pham Bao will bounce back.

Meanwhile, joining Li Pei at the top is Chua Chen Shen, who is second in chips with 925,000. Wang Chongyang and Nicholas Michael are tied at the third spot with 770,000.

Henrik Hecklen Seeks To Win $15,000 NLH Final Amidst Star-Studded Field

$15,000 NLH Final

Blinds 10,000/20,000 Ante 20,000

Date: September 27-28, 2024

Buy in: KRW 21,000,000 (~USD 15,000)

Entries: 52

Prize pool: KRW 1,016,652,000 (~ USD 771,000)

ITM: TBD after registration ends

Starting Stack: 500,000

Chips In Play: 26,000,000

Average Stack; 625,000

Remaining Players: 29

52 entries of KRW 21,000,000 (~USD 15,000) built a gargantuan prize pool of KRW 1,016,652,000 (~ USD 771,000). The top 29 players begin the $15 NLH today, but may be joined by some more players before registration closes.

Henrik Hecklen leads the field with a 2,805,000 chip count and is a big favorite to win the event. Hecklen has such as huge chip lead, and as long as he can maintain this and avoid big hits to his stack, then he certainly could have one foot in the door to the championship.

Hecklen has made significant cashes, but according to Hendon Mob, his last first place finish was still in 2022 at a NLHE Super High Roller event during the European Poker Tour London. Certainly, Hecklen is due for one soon, and today may be the day.

The second place in chips is John Juanda, who is more than a million chips behind at 1,610,000. Juanda is trailed closely by Daniel Tang with 1,590,000.

Of course, these two poker stars are not to be taken lightly. Poker legend John Juanda was a big winner last year in Poker Dream 7 Vietnam, winning a NLHE Super High Roller event.

Daniel Tang just recently made a huge second-place cash at the 2024 WSOP in the $50,000 PLO-High Roller. His last first place finish was earlier this year here at Jeju, winning the NLHE-All Star Showdown event of the Asian Poker Tour Jeju.
